Diving in feet first....

This year, the Council erected a two-tier diving board on the waterfront, and ever since then an endless stream of people have jumped off it!  Not only has it brought great joy to those brave enough to attempt it, however, but it has also proved to be quite a spectator sport.  There are people lining the water from dawn to dusk to watch the action and take some photos - including me :-) !!

Favourite Places: #1 - Kaitoke.....

Just outside of Wellington, past Upper Hutt, is a hidden gem......a place so beautiful that words cannot do it sufficient justice.  It's name is Kaitoke - although in recent years it has also become known as "Rivendell".  Peter Jackson chose this special site in which to set the elvish kingdom in LOTR - a place of peace and tranquility, knowledge and wisdom, comfort and succour - and once you are there it is apparent why.

The green of the native bush and the sound of the river nearby make this a truly magical spot!  With rivers to swim in, damns to visit, and stunning bush to wander in, alongside a large open area in which to pitch a tent*, there is something here for everyone!

So, as much as I hate to share a secret, here it is: Kaitoke !  A little spot of heaven, and a large dose of tranquility,  in Wellington/Middle Earth!
