I recently had the pleasure of spending the afternoon exploring Underground Arts, on the corner of Vivian and Victoria streets in Wellington. More than just a tattoo studio, owner Steve Maddock has spent many years creating and assembling the National Tattoo Museum, which is now housed in the same building. There is no doubt that the popularity, and acceptance, of tattoos has grown immeasurably over the past few years, and Steve has created a fantastic resource for anyone interested in the long history and beauty of this art form.
While I have never been quite brave enough to go under the needle myself, after an enjoyable and fascinating afternoon spent exploring and admiring the items on display here, who knows.........maybe I could be tempted? Perhaps, one day soon, I'll have my very own tattoo to show you!?
